Emerging from the kaleidoscopic haze of Shout Out! To Freedom…, George Evelyn leads his focus into clear cut club tracks harking back to where it all began. Before Nightmares On Wax, there was DJ E.A.S.E: Evelyn began DJing in 1984 with a selection of hip hop legends populating the decks, until a "mind-blowing" clubbing experience in Ibiza 1988 changed the rotations. N.O.W was formed that same year, and the CLUB E.A.S.E. series travels through four decades to recall the project's origins in hip hop and "dirty house music".
Launching the CLUB E.A.S.E. series is a round of tracks with full on extroverted house music to tear up the dancefloor. The funky stabs and rattling loops of 'Yeah You!' snake around until the bass saunters in, bringing the track to life. There's a vintage tinge to the endless melody, and a subtly crackling mix with breathing room reminiscent of Warp's early days.
The relentless fire of these tracks would make the crowds of basements and big stages alike erupt. 'Come On Then' is a feast of crisp beats and guitar loops with an immense festival-ready drop.
CLUB E.A.S.E. takes a low frequency detour to the foundational moments of Nightmares On Wax, bouncing with house of the highest energy and calibre.
