This is a track that our friend Jack (Pedestrian) passed onto us recently. We've been living together in Berlin for the last few weeks and it's been on repeat in our apartment since we first heard it. The paradoxical lyrics of the chorus matched with the melody they're sung over is just flawless.
So Good At Being in Trouble
Unknown Mortal Orchestra
I Don't Know
Brownswood Bubblers Eleven
We both became instant fans of Nick Hakim after hearing both of his 'Where Will We Go' EPs. It's really hard to pick out one track as standout from these EP's, as they're all pretty perfect. That guitar tone/solo at the end just tips it though...
Late Night Tales: Metronomy
Another new one discovered since living in Berlin, picked up in a Metronomy mix. Recovering from a heavy weekend together this track was also set on repeat for quite some time. Hard to believe its over 35 years old!
Pull My Hair Back
To move all of our studio kit over to Berlin we had to buy a busted up Transit van and tackle a 16-hour journey, so we all brought along as much new music as possible to pass the time. This was one of the references we had for writing some new music.
Black Pocket Vol. Three
Very cool vibes on this one from Steve Spacek. Love the intricate rhythms and the soulful vocals.
Both already being big fans of the Congolese band Staff Benda Bilili, we were really excited to hear this new project that they've started. The lead line that runs through the track is so infectious. The European twist from producer Liam Farell works harmoniously with the african heritage of the band.
Why Can't We Live Together
Late Night Tales - Django Django
After spending a day sample hunting at a record store in Treptow-Köpenick, we stumbled back across this classic from Timmy Thomas. This track was the first place I dropped the needle and fell back in love with it.
This is one of the first songs we fell in love with by Gold panda. We've recently made an edit of the song so we can play it out in our DJ sets.
The Way U Do
Vacation - Single
A really nostalgic track that neither of us have listened to in a long time, but has come back on rotation since being away.
