My favourite piece from Pekler's masterful Tristes Tropiques.
Visible Cloaks feat. Miyako Koda
Sloe Loris recently put me onto these guys, and I am very pleased he did, they come across to me as like a modern day Jon Hassell or Terry Riley. With 'Valve' I love how Miyako Koda beautiful voice phrasing mimic the rhythms of the FM synth stabs/chords (or vice versa), at the same time utilising the silence or spacing between these things exquisitely.
Before You Sleep
Bruce smashes it once again (no surprises here), I love the sparseness and subtleness in this track which slowly builds up into a big burst of deep melodic goodness.
Wakes on Cerulean A
Wakes on Cerulean
Kassel Jaeger & Jim O'Rourke
A beautifully crafted ambient piece, which seamlessly combines electronic treatments (to largely) acoustic sounds to create something strange yet organic and familiar.
The Neurobiology of Moral Decision Making
Mark Fell & Gabor Lazar
This collaboration really is something else, I picked this track as its one of the more mixable joints of the album, but the whole thing should be listened too. I love how they keep investigating the same process/technique from different perspectives, in turn illustrating so many unique but still coherent ideals.
This jam is like if Don Cab and Fly Lo played together in a band, I love that mathrock/prog meets hip-hop vibe to it.
Last Of The Dogons
This record jumped out to me, I was already a fan of Jay's previous work, the addition of him recording his own drums, percussion and melody stuff for his debut album really have added another dimension and uniqueness to his music for me .
I Abused Animal
I'm a sucker for weird detuned guitar based stuff , so this track really does it for me. Heathers vocals are amazing on it too.
Bearing and Writhe
Awesome Electo acoustic/Sound Design lushness from the Brighton based duo.
