This collaboration between Arthur Russell and Allen Ginsburg is really special. I first heard it in the documentary ‘Wild Combination’, and it took me a while to find the song… The B side is lovely as well.
I have tended to prefer Brian Eno’s older, more ‘classic’ works . . . but I recently picked up this album from 2015 and I’m completely blown away by it. Such special music from such a special man.
This album was very formative for me. It gave me the confidence to make really simple piano music, and to really trust that sometimes less is more.
Félicia has been one of my favorite artists to follow for many years now. There is an element of pure wonder to her work . . . that childlike creativity that is untainted by the confines of what can be perceived as ‘right or wrong’ in the art world. Not always an easy listen . . . but always interesting.

What’s not to like about Townes Van Zandt? He was a true character, and a unique voice in the world of folk music. I also absolutely love the photograph on the cover of this album.
Low is a legendary band in my mind. This was one of my favorite albums of theirs when I first started listening to them. I admire their integrity, doing their stripped down live shows in the same way for so many years. So raw and beautiful.
This is a compilation that my sister put together, and many of the artists on here are friends or acquaintances of mine. I think it’s a beautiful collection of modern folk music. It brings me a warm feeling to listen to it.
Seeing these two perform live was one of the greatest live music experiences I’ve had in recent years, or maybe ever. Truly admirable musicianship . . . innovative music which at the core is just two people playing acoustic instruments.
