Cluster unlocked some new zones in my mind when I first heard it, so I had to go check out their solo releases as well. Many of Roedelius' releases around this time have a similar sound/vibe to them, and they're all incredible. Hypnotic, lush, straight from the source.
I've been listening to Jimmy Edgar's stuff since his first Warp release, and I'm always excited to hear his new tracks. Some people don't get into the vocals on this, but I certainly do. His best album, in my opinion.
Could list a million Legowelt releases really, but I felt like picking this one today. I hadn't even really listened to Legowelt until he released The TEAC Life (I know, I'm slow), but after checking that out I instanly became a mega fan. This one shares that "newer Legowelt" aesthetic, deep and chord memory-laden stuff with loads of bonkers melodies. Bonus 10" is great as well.
Being a fan of Vex'd, it was cool to hear something so different when Jamie Vex'd decided to start a solo project. From the early Scuba remix to the EPs to this, all of it is fucking top notch and absolutely inspiring stuff. It probably helps that Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies, but this goes far beyond its initial influences.
This might be a bit silly, but I heard this when I was like 15-16 years old and decided I needed to start making electronic music. It was already a few years old by then, but to me it was completely mindblowing. The mental music video lured me in at first, but the entire EP is just insanely good and I'm forever thankful that I decided to buy it back in 2001 or so. Thanks Richard!
Mark was a really good friend, I miss him a lot.
